About two million deaths per year worldwide are due to Malaria (Plasmodium infections) and 85 percent of those who die are children under five years of age.  Africa, Asia, and Central and South America are the areas with high numbers of malarial infections.  The financial cost of malaria is crippling economic development due to the high cost of medicines and reduced productivity.  Malaria is treatable and preventable by using a combined set of effective interventions, including insecticide-treated bed nets and indoor spraying of homes with insecticides to control mosquitoes, and drug treatments to prevent and cure malaria.  The Collins Reynolds Foundation hopes to partner with The World Health Organization, The Global Fund and The Gates Foundation to eradicate malaria.
